In the ongoing interest of growing the forum's exposure, I have been making widgets.
Types of Widgets:
There are two types of widgets I have been making. Rss feed widgets and HTLM/Page widgets. Rss widgets require an rss feed while web page widgets require HTML output hosted somewhere. For both, the widgets hosts I have used require a url to a valid rss page or html page. The rss option may be more limiting as far as the content that is displayed by the widget; however, for rss there are flash based rss feed widgets that are not only slicker looking than the wrappers for HTML, but also are more compatible. For example, a flash rss feed widget can be placed on a myspace or facebook profile. I have now created a few ASP pages that output valid rss xml. Before I had any rss, I tried a few websites that convert website content into rss format. This was better than nothing but labor intensive and the much less flexible than creating rss from scratch.
